Product Description
2010 was one of the coolest vintages on record. The sugars and acids were balanced at a much lower brix level than we had experienced in the past. Because of this, many winemakers let the fruit hang in order to increase the brix levels to those approaching normal for Washington. This was a mistake because the unusually heavy fall rains created an epidemic of rot and mildew and, other than very experienced winemakers, most Washington winemakers had not seen this condition. Our winemaker, Charlie Hoppes, is one of the most experienced winemakers in the Washington wine community and he picked the fruit at the most optimum time. He felt the sugars, while low, were in perfect balance with the acids. Because of this, Charlie feels the high natural acids with an optimal amount of sugar will allow the wines from this vintage to age exceptionally well.
